Led by Chris Byars, the ensemble adeptly blends past and present influences. In the '90s, Across 7 Street, their musical platform, regularly performed at the legendary Smalls Jazz Club, introducing fresh compositions by Byars, Ari Roland, and Sacha Perry while honoring tradition. Byars has a rich compositional history, ranging from geography to musical biography and visual art. Today, the group focuses on Byars' compositions, breaking from convention.
