Tetracordo Academy, co-founded in 2014 by Giordano Carnevale, is dedicated to the promotion and development of Contemporary Be-Bop Jazz, making higher music education accessible to musicians at all levels. The Academy benefits from the expertise of jazz masters from the New York City scene, such as Ari Roland, Luigi Grasso, Pasquale Grasso, Tom Kirkpatrick, Emanuele Valente, Simone Pace, Yaala Ballin, Antonio Ciacca, Joe Farnsworth, Chris Byars, and Keith Balla, alongside European contemporary music composers like Stéphane Delplace.
In 2024, the Academy will host the 11th edition of its three-day intensive summer jazz workshop from September 6-8, featuring masterclasses and performance opportunities.
The 11th Tetracordo Festival will celebrate Bach's "Well-Tempered Clavier" and Beethoven's piano sonatas, highlighting two monumental works in tonal music. The festival will feature distinguished artists including international solo pianist Andrei Korobeinikov, jazz american trumpeter Tom Kirkpatrick, clarinetist and Artistic Director Giordano Carnevale, French pop artist Mavi Lou, and contemporary composers Stéphane Delplace and Stanislav Makovsky.
Additionally, the Giuseppe Pettine Award, established in collaboration with the Municipality of Isernia, honors the memory of the renowned mandolinist Giuseppe Pettine and recognizes musicians who promote his music and the mandolin.
Lastly, the Commemorative Concert for the Bombing of Isernia includes the annual performance of "La Nenia" by Stéphane Delplace, a composition created to honor the victims and preserve the historical memory of the 1943 bombing.
SEP. 6 - 8, 2024 ISERNIA (Italy)
The Collaborative Workshop, open to instrumentalists and singers of all levels, is led by renowned jazz trumpeter and educator Tom Kirkpatrick. Participants will delve into jazz harmony, improvisation, and vocal interpretation. The workshop includes ensemble playing and in-depth exploration of jazz fundamentals.
This workshop is also a dynamic, open session. Participants are encouraged to actively contribute, bringing in their own ideas, introducing new pieces, and discussing performance practices, making it a truly collaborative and creative experience.

The Tetracordo Festival is an event associated with the Tetracordo Academy that offers the opportunity to attend classical, jazz, and contemporary music concerts.

The Giuseppe Pettine Award is established by the Nuova Accademia di Jazz "Il Tetracordo" in collaboration with the Municipality of Isernia to honor the memory of the Isernia-born mandolinist Giuseppe Pettine. This award recognizes professional mandolinists who stand out for their dedication to the promotion and preservation of Pettine's music and the mandolin across various repertoires, including classical, contemporary, jazz, and folk. The objectives of the award are to highlight Pettine's musical legacy, promote mandolin composition and transcription, and encourage the creation of new works.

The composition "La Nenia" by Stéphane Delplace, for wind orchestra, premiered at the Tetracordo Festival in Isernia (Italy) on September 10, 2023, at the Cloister of Palazzo San Francesco. This event marked the 80th anniversary of the tragic bombing of Isernia by Anglo-American forces on September 10, 1943. Commissioned by the Municipality of Isernia to Nuova Accademia di Jazz il Tetracordo, "La Nenia" was created to honor the victims of that day. The piece will be performed annually to preserve historical memory.
